Anselm van Elwynn was a human priest, member to the Brotherhood of Northshire, and a retainer to the Duchess Eowynn Blackstone. Once inducted into the Order of the Silver Hand, he became one of the many paladins trained by Saidan Dathrohan. He was a staunch admirer of Arthas Menethil and left shortly after the Order's suspension.
Anselm would later be deceived by the demon Balnazzar, disguised as his former mentor, into joining the Scarlet Crusade. Only until his rescue by an ex-companion, another Knight of the Silver Hand, could he sever his ties completely.
Eventually he settled down in his childhood home of Northshire, immersing himself in faith to become a priest.
One night, resting in the Lion's Pride Inn, he encountered the Lady Eowynn Blackstone and in time pledged himself to her banner. He has served among her Emerald Shields since.
